Listening to Silver Springs by Fleetwood Mac, ostensibly a breakup song but this seems appropriate:

Time casts a spell on you, but you wont forget me
I know I could have loved you, but you would not let me
I'll follow you down til the sound of my voice will haunt you

man, I still have a copy of that 45. I don't know if it was always a B side, but I have a copy of "Don't Stop"(hate that song), and the B side is "Silver Spring". I do like that song. I think what I have is a reissue, not sure.

It was included on the reissue of Rumours with the extra demo tracks, and the studio version I think - definitely on the surround sound 5.1 disk

It was always a B-side. It was slated for inclusion on Rumours but was dropped at the last minute as a slight against Stevie Nicks during intense band drama and in-fighting. As Tim's pointed out, it's available on the expanded CD re-release of Rumours. There's also a more recent live version on The Dance.

thank you, both of you. I actually own that reissue along with the reissues of "Fleetwood Mac" and "Tusk"(real savage like...)

I was stating that my love of that song dates back to when I was a teen and purchased a 45rpm of "Don't Stop", a song I've never liked just so I could have a copy of "Silver Spring" since CD box sets and dredging up one's B-sides and rarities to make more $$ wasn't that common, circa 1986.

My only wonder was, I'm quite sure that 45 I purchased was a reissue, so I was curious what song "SS" was originally a B side for.

I think the original A-side was "Dreams".

No it was Go Your Own Way - first release from Rumours.

I'll check on Wiki, pretty sure that's it.

yes it was Go Your Own Way - interesting choice since the A-side was Lindsey about breaking up with Stevie.

The dance version is here:

Note the bit after 4:00 mins. OUCH. Does she still hate Lindsey?

I didn't know it had been released before. I thought the new live version was the first time. It's a great song, so I am glad I discovered it. In high school, but you didn't want to hear that. ;-)

It is beautiful, and I didn't know about it til a few years ago being about 4 when the original came out, with the whole argument over the boxset of Fleetwood Mac, and they released it as a single for the boxset.

But it is astoundingly beautiful, and a harsh almost stalkerish view on Lindsay (I think)
