Last night went to Duckie for the first time in ages with Gregg and a mate of his - loads of great tunes, the Reader's Wifes (one of the best DJs in the country, no question for eclectic choice of the best tunes) played loads of classics, I was going to ask them to (cheekily) play a bootleg then that second they played Go Home Productions 'Rapture Riders' - so they can mindread too.

Some of the songs I remember, nary a duff tune:

Scissor Sisters - Filthy Gorgeous - went off wild to this one
Magic Fly - Space - still sounds great, proto house classic
Iggy & The Stooges - I wanna be your dog- mosh mosh mosh
Goldfrapp - Train - a classic, they played Ride a White Horse which I was singing Laidback loudly over, Train went down better (tis a better tune, and more 'original')
David Essex - Star - one of Kirk's faves. I cannot answer anymore due to the Official Secrets Act.
Sparks - Beat the Clock - way!
Malcom McLaren - Madame Butterfly - must do something with this
De La Soul - Rollerskating Jam - weird to hear this in a club...
obligatory - 2 Morrissey tracks, First of the Gang and Boy with a Thorn in His Side
Soft Cell - Insecure Me - great to hear this.
Le Tigre - I'm so Excited

They did play Abba 'Lay all your love' (why? when the covers - not Erasure I hasten to add - are SO much better?) so I had to stand outside then. Very few original Abba tunes I can stand to dance/listen to.

Apologies to anyone I moshed against or trod on your toes - no drugs were imbibed but a combo of that music + alcohol makes me very frisky. There was a really cute daddy bear there, sadly with cub (aint that always the way?)

I wish the bars were like Duckie, XXL and the bearish places are all crappy commercial dance music and hard/handbag trance...but interestingly the mix at Duckie includes some cute bears, it's very diverse!

Took me ages to get home, no food anywhere (there used to be a local chicken place that opens late, no more) and on the hellride that is the top of the N98 bus. I'm a bit hoarse and deaf today, it's raining but a great night out :-D

I loved Duckie

I discovered Duckie a few weeks ago and I got stiched to it! The only thing, since I'm living in Horsham and it's hard for me to get news is if it's really every Saturday in the Royal Vauxhall Tavern... Do you know about that?

My bf is coming next weekend from Barcelona and I want to take him there!

yes it is - as the website says it's 9pm - 2am every Sat

Xavi - I didn't know you were in the UK and not Madrid? I used to live just past Guildford...so I know Horsham (to pass through at least!) In fact when I first came out on the bear scene I had to take the 10:45pm train home from Waterloo, a real passion killer...

Hum, the site didn't look much updated, that's why I asked.

I lived in Madrid in May-June, then I had to come to England for the same project. Nevertheless, I'm from Barcelona! :)

Where are you located?
