Are now switched off - they were allowed yet screened. I always thought I'd allow them as screened as friends and my partner aren't on LJ, until the first sign of trouble, then disable them. That time is now. So Mr Comcast 24.12.67.26 aka c-24-12-67-26.hsd1.il.comcast.net, you're screwed, as your 'humorous' comment was never seen - I'd take a joke about me being executed for insulting Islam from a friend, but not an anonymous bitch of a troll. F*ck you.

I'm sure others will thank you, when friends and my partner have to register/login, I will direct them to this post and your IP address, which is probably you hiding behind a dynamic IP. Shame cos I'd IP ban your ass from all my sites otherwise.

Maybe next time you could be brave enough to associate yourself with a name? I doubt it as you are most likely a snivelling little coward.

Have a nice day!

I just went thru something extremely similar on my own LJ after I posted to [livejournal.com profile] badbearprofiles. Seems that the guy whose profile I ridiculed (with good reason) took exception to it and started flooding my last non-private post with shit, shit, and more shit, all anonymously.

I cut him off at the knees - well I guess I actually cut him off at the knuckles - by disabling anonymous comments.

Yeah just what I'd done - I always thought it was silly to leave them, but I screened them, as my partner and a few other ppl do post anonymously.

The usual schoolteacher mode applies - one person spoiling it for everyone else.

It could be a friend not logged in, but they usually 'fess up after saying 'that was me' - and the bad grammar and insult to Islam comment suggest not - my friends can write better than that ;-)

Comcast is a shit ISP, that's karma in itself - dishonest too as the fake packets to disrupt torrents and P2P now.

The few times my husband has decided to reply to a post on my LJ, he's always been logged in as himself ([livejournal.com profile] hangnaildhole), so at least I don't have to worry about preventing my sweetie from being publicly snarky towards me. :-}}}}

Oh, and Schoolteacher Mode is appropriate for me, since my parents were both schoolteachers and met while teaching at the same school. LOL

Oh I like teachers, my partner is one ;-) He's on Facebook but not LJ, but yes it doesn't stop him being his usual self either, or didn't - I'm sure he'll login and get an account if he wants to comment, if he hasn't got one for some extremely exciting public sustainable transport group already! ;-)

Dunno....I consider those who post to that group generally deserving of any shit flung their way. IT reminds me of the Cheerleaders table in the High School Lunch Room.

Sorry to read that you had to endure that. [livejournal.com profile] badbearprofiles is just bad news all around, IMHO. Remember this? Holy shit! It's a re-write, y'all (http://community.livejournal.com/badbearprofiles/179800.html).

Thankfully, at least the mods got the message that their membership overwhelmingly wanted all posts AND comments alike to be prohibited. However, as many have also determined for themsleves, I don't want my name affiliated with a community that has evolved into such a hatefest as it has (and, thankfully, I never arrived at being a member in the first place, before seeing that post, above).

On a brighter note, Happy Holidays to you.

The subject of the ED is pretty twisted though, as far as I can tell.

Granted, yeah. I think, however, that the question is less about whether he is "twisted" than it is about whether anyone, regardless of their outward behavior IRL and on the web, and in consideration of just how "challenged" they might be, really deserves this. Beyond that, regular folks with whom you and I are friends, IRL and on the web, folks who dared to voice an opinion, got themselves a nice plate of incisive backlash. Do they deserve that?

We don't make special efforts to poke fun at people with terminal cancer, for example, do we? Well, someone out there might. But, doing so is not part of a social phenomenon.

Yeah funny enough I have utmost respect for tim_e_bear for speaking up in that AS thread on badbearprofiles - just looked at it now - some of the threads on badbearprofiles ARE funny, and some are like that one, just REALLY nasty.

Not posting a link cos I don't want to restart the drama, not here.

I think this post by a view so cruel says it best though:

"Telling them they made you cry will only make them be a lot nastier to you. Trust me, I've been involved in really nasty LJ drama and mockery as well and the best thing is to cut your losses and get on with your netlife.
You shouldn't edit your profile simply because a few people in a community make some silly comments. Don't let it get to you, I know it's hard because people can be pretty nasty online. It's easier to be cruel when hiding behind a screen. But the things they said here don't seem half as bad asI've seen people put out there on the net about other people. Believe me when I say you got off very very easy here. Only a few people put forth any mockery.

The best thing to do is just don't let it get to you, it's just the internet and if you're likely to be hurt by the words of others, the best plan is to just ignore it, don't read the thread and communities and so on.
And above all, never let people online know they upset you to the point of tears, it will only get worse.

(and kudos to the people on this thread thus far for not being mean about it)."

Those are some wise words. And, yeah, ur right about not posting links here to reopen old arguments and wounds. It was for the sake of example. Sorry about that, didn't think that one through completely.
