Aug. 2nd, 2006
Well I've been very bad about updating my LJ, partly cos there's been not much to add, and partly cos much of the last 24+ hours have been blitzed out by a stomach virus or bug, giving me headaches as well as the usual too. Not nice...
Despite that went with John to the ICA - well I met him there for the private view of Surprise, Surprise and hated the chattering upper-middle class thirty-something artwankers so much that rather than have me start taking chunks out of them, we left for Inn on the Park and sadly I didn't get to see the exhibition...Inn on the Park was nice despite it being the only food I'd had all day, and having to eat really slowly and minimally, and choose very 'inoffensive' options.
Weekend not much happened; well not much productive - watched Tsotsi, which I really recommend. It's a South African / British co-production about a street thug who accidentally gains possession of a baby after he carjacks a woman's car, and his story and redemption from being a thug with nothing to falling in love and doing the right thing. The soundtrack is brilliant too - I'm loving modern 'rap' style kwaito and want to hear more.
Also listening to a lot of Reggaeton...expect a related podcast soon :-D
Other parts of the weekend I kind of discussed - I went cruising down Ham Lands (no luck) and was supposed to see
tga in the evening but it didn't happen, so stayed in and decided to either to go to the coast or the sauna Sunday. Sunday dawned and it was a little overcast and a bit late to go the coast so went to the sauna...met some nice guys and a had a fun time (and pretty sure they did too :-P) but stupidly ate some of the buffet there, or picked up a bug off someone. Not good.
The things we do for horniness, eh?

I'm having this argument with one of my agencies about invoices - they keep nagging me about it, I then nag the managed limited company people about it, then it get resolved. It wastes my time, and takes much longer than if they'd emailed my managed limited company direct.
Repeat until fade EVERY FUCKING WEEK.
I finally cracked and said 'Why don't you email this company direct' - I pay them to do the invoices, I know NOTHING about the invoices, and other agencies don't have this issue, or seem to be happy to do this (I've never had to ask them to do this), but this particular agency has problems.
The response from the woman in payroll was 'It's not my responsibility to chase your limited company' - err this is an agency as well as working a lot with in the past I've worked for over a month earning them commission, and am working through one of their clients until September.
And they can't just simply substitute another email address for mine when they chase the invoice?!?
I'm earning money for them and paying this other company to deal with it, so what's the frigging problem? Needless to say the response was rude as hell, so I've sent a shirty email back asking why is it a problem to just email them instead of me when it saves them time and doesn't stress me out?
So any other freelancers out there had issues like this? How was it resolved? Solutions? Ideas? Before I go 'postal on their asses'?
Repeat until fade EVERY FUCKING WEEK.

Aug. 2nd, 2006 09:42 pmThis has been floating around and doing the rounds again so I thought I'd have a go - first time was at work but it was a manual without page 123!
Grab the nearest book.
Open the book to page 123.

Post the text of the next 3 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
Don’t you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.
"At your service dear colleague."
"Are you the local chap? Did you make the storm?"
"Alas, I am, like yourselves, a wanderer."
Peter Dickinson: The Weatherman.
