fingertrouble...cos it's changing to fingertrouble in about 2 seconds.
Long story, but just fed up with the name:
tim - well I'm still tim but it'd be nice to be quasi anonymous sometimes
bear - not really allied with bears anymore
cub - feel a bit old for this
Why fingertrouble? Well for one it's fairly free across the board, I have the domain (fingertrouble.info) and it's one of my dad's phrases for things going wrong due to user error. It's perfect! :-D
This is hopefully an across the board change, BUT sadly Flickr is useless cos you can change your screen name but not the one in the URL...stupid. I might have to create a new Pro account and let the other lapse, losing all the sets. Grr. And Twitter all the @timbearcub links all break.
I mean web developers on big (or not so big) sites are paid shitloads of money for this crap; the ID problem and lookup tables for ID are like Database 101 Primary School level. It's not hard; even I know the basics. So why are these lazy alpha geeks not able to sort out the basic thing of having the unique key NOT being your username? They have your email, or even could - shock horror GENERATE an unique ID and then a lookup table to your human-friendly name. I suspect Flickr does this already, so why they can't just redirect to another new ID like Livejournal I don't know. Ditto Twitter.
