the problem with reality TV

I just can't believe this has happened...the poor woman obviously needed help rather than being ridiculed on national TV.
Although I'm wary about the current BBC obscenity witchhunt, if it does stop the zoo-radio/TV and dumbing down of radio and TV (I have my doubts, here's hoping) then it will be good. It probably will actually end up with bland safe humour - but humour where someone is the butt of the joke is cruel. Entertaining but in this media-rich age where everyone is watching, youtubing, downloading, very cruel and likely to stay around.
I hope reality TV dies on it's arse very soon. It's just evil.
Dead Set (a zombie critique of Big Brother) said it best:
"What is TV anyway? it's just a big fat arrow pointing away from the problem. Especially shows like this. It's like the lead in the water pipes has sent the romans mad"
