Via [livejournal.com profile] greatbearmd - you gotta read this if you've got an iPod.

Certainly although I've said this before, I do expect better from Apple given it's style of marketing and messages it pumps out.

But hey maybe one of the Chinese in these factories will rise up and a new Gandhi will be born, for them to use on their advertising in future (j/king - sort of...)

I posted there, largely because I thought non-ownership of an iPod hardly gets one off the collective hook. I do hope Apple take the same steps Gap did when attention was drawn to their practices.A point indeed about Apple's chosen profile though.
Mind you, my iPod was made by little purple hedgehogs in the land of Farawayand'Owsyerfather...

The other thing to keep in mind is that history is full of the evolution of the industrial worker. They WILL form unions, they will demand more, our prices will go up, they will move the manufacturing to Africa, that in turn will spark the same changes. It is really a matter of timing and society pressure. I don't think we should not put pressure on companies like Apple to change their practices, we indeed should.
