"from a matchstick to a toothpick"... ? Curious.

Like the pic of John, it captures the "crunchy on the outside, tender on the inside" thing very well. ;-)

Thought you might like that one ;-)

Yeah I wondered about that...very odd slogan. I assume they mean from starting the fire/oven to finishing the meal.

Also love the You passing....guaranteed to annoy grammarnerds but really in Africa English tends to become a little more utilitarian and functional, or directly translated from Bantu languages but also a lingua franca for all the different people, say Zulu or Xhosa.

It also occured to me, re the Egypt pictures earlier (very nice) that flying from California to Florida is further than from London to Cairo. But the cultural distance is, relatively speaking, zero. You get to go to many more interesting places within a given radius than Americans do!

True, although interesting also meant very scary - the week after I took pics in Tahrir Square tourists were arrested and deported for doing same. One of the few times my look (I always get asked if I'm a muslim, randomly) helped greatly.

But you don't need to travel, in London you get different worlds and cultures a few streets away - although obviously the countryside/suburbs tend to be more uniform, other cities do have really unique stuff going on...although obviously not to the 'culture shock' of not even being able to read the numerals or text (I learned arabic numbers so I could use buses).
