Originally put together on the 25th October, the 6th anniversary of John Peel's death, technical difficulties stopped it being recorded and posted then. John Peel's death was the catalyst for this podcast (Radio Clash started a little over a month later), so I always feel I have to pay tribute to him in some way.

As a tribute to John Peel and new music, I thought I'd do something I almost never do - rifle through the piles of emails to find the music that has been submitted to Radio Clash, mostly by new/hopeful bands and artists over the last 5 years.

From japanese jazz punk flautists to french rappers, from 8bit to 32 bit mashups, from DIY ambience to noir surf-rock exotica, it has something for everyone! Some great, some weird, I hope the eclectic nature of this show goes a small way in the spirit of John Peel's radio career - and maybe helps a few new acts along the way, or at least as a 'sorry' for those I didn't get back to or didn't play.

I just started listening to Played at the Wrong Speed. I'm going to love it. I used to play the 12" of Fashion at 45 rpm when I was a dj in Germany in 1981. I've suggested it to several dj friends but they never did it, you are the first one to do it. Even now when I hear the song in my head it's always at 45 rpm....beep beep.

I assume you're referring to the excellent David Bowie – Fashion (frenchbloke & son remix) - that if I remember is played at all kinds of speeds (Bowie hated it, apparently)

I was, though I don't even remember who mixed the 12" I had back then.

It wasn't the Frenchbloke & Son mix, that was 2003 or 2004 or something. Semi-official as I think it's an official release that was leaked as Bowie or the record company didn't like it...or it was for that infamous weird Audi remix comp, something like that...

That's not a bad idea, a whole show were every tune is played at the wrong speed! LOL...wish I'd done that one the show, although I think I included a clip of the mighty Peel doing so...
