Ricky Gervais - worlds top podcast? Really?

I hate to cross post (so won't post this twice) but wondering what y'all thought of the Ricky Gervais Podcast (apparently according to them, the world's #1 Podcast - hmm how can they tell? - actually you can't! I'd guess more like UK #1).

I get kind of evangelical and vocal about podcasting, especially when I see something not very good being very public (cf the Paris Hilton podcast) and want to shout about the other, lesser know but far better podcasts out there which don't have celebrity pull and have to survive on talent. But weirdly here I thought Ricky and Steve Merchant have the talent to do a lot better than this rambly boring irritating mess...?

It was funny until it became irritatingly repetative.

Step one: ask Karl a question
Step two: Karl responds like a totaly fuckwit
Step three: Ricky cackles in an ear-splitting register
Step four: Make fun of Karl mercilessly
Step five: Return to step one

It's highly overrated.

I know, I got bored with it almost immediately...I think when Karl pretended that he thought that the Goats for Africa Xmas present scheme actually sent the goats from here to Africa, and was a bad idea as the family didn't want goats (err, ok, yeah they'd rather have nintendo...duhhhh) I thought...this is either a) a total fuckwit or b) someone pretending to be.

Either way it's just annoying. I do hope they don't think this is actually what podcasts are about? Cos they are so, so, so wrong.

That was the first one I listened to - I listened to several to check that yes, he was an idiot, and yes they were taking the piss.

Have fun buying the next ones from Audible *snigger* And watch it fall down the chart as the cheapo students don't want to shell out...

it'll probably be up on a torrent for free somewhere soon after they start the pay version anyway.....listen to the old XFM shows anyway...the Podcast is just those but not as funny
