A number of years ago I was in SW England on a consultancy for the MoD. When I filled my car with petrol, they gave me change in Scottish pounds. And I couldn't get rid of them! I would say "this is the United Kingdom, is it not?" and "it has a picture of your Elizabeth II on it." I had to go to a bank and exchange them for proper pounds.
I think the UK should switch to €s and end this nonsense.
