Two solutions seem to work well (I have a 5th Gen iPod 60Gb, your iPod Nike expensive iTrainer mileage may vary):

If you *cough* have some video already (Windows) i.e. some DIVX AVIs:

Use free iPod Video Convertor from Videora http://www.videora.com/ - make sure you select MPEG4 NOT h254 wotsit as apparently MPEG4 works and H.254 doesn't always. I'd suggest around 512Kbs or 768Kbs - they make it easy with options...higher numbers are better quality, but bigger file size, although 20 odd mins video only takes 195Mb at that size at the higher rate.

If you've got a DVD you want to rip and burn and have a fairly beefy Mac:

Then use Handbrake - http://handbrake.m0k.org/. Essential guide here: http://howto.diveintomark.org/ipod-dvd-ripping-guide/

Not speedy but REALLY good quality, ripping a DVD to it now, not fast but then again I'm dedicating Miguel the Mini Mac to the task, faster processors would be a lot quicker - atm seems like 1 hour-ish for 28min show? Thing is cos that Mac is so quiet I'm happy to leave it on all the time.

If you have Windows and want to rip DVDs it seems quite complex process, not the one-click of those two...maybe try the Windows alpha version of Handbrake (same address above) or use the Engadget guide http://www.engadget.com/2005/10/14/how-to-convert-a-dvd-for-your-ipod-with-video-in-windows/ but seems like you have to rip to HD first - ouch if you don't have much space like me!
