A Night At The Opera
Nov. 8th, 2011 06:44 amCastor & Pollux, last Friday...for those not on the Twitters or the Facebooks etc. First official wearing of my new/old waistcoat, John hired tails, we had a box with champagne. I hasten to add we do not do this often!
Opera was by Rameau, french Louis XIV composer...nice pagan bits inc the underworld section which was genuinely spooky as they all swayed in unison slowly...and the death of Castor was genuinely moving, as was the meeting of the two brothers in Hell/Hades. But sadly marred by too much running around and slapping against walls...it's a modern German production and it's one of those 'physical' operas. Really Matthew Bourne did this FAR better with Car Man.
Kilt worn too low again...*sigh*
John looking regal and oh-so-dashing ;-)
( Last one is not totally safe for work, some nudity, nothing genital though )
