I noticed the bright green tweed and yellow umbrella hooked over arm first and thought 'he's brave - bit like Viv Stanshall...wonder if he's an artist' .
Looked further and realised this very old small man looked familiar...it was George from Gilbert and George berry picking along the City Road...not really the place for urban foraging; just opposite the Moorfield. Gilbert was sitting close by looking a little desolate up the road.
Yes I'd heard they pottered around the neighbourhood, first time I've seen them though. Didn't speak to them as that's what talkative foreigners do, you don't just talk to Gilbert & George or any 'famous' people cos it's a little rude and not very British, and anyway it was a wet evening and everyone was rushing home ignoring them. What would you say to Gilbert & George apart from maybe sing them some Flanagan and Allen? They looked a lot older and smaller than expected, even the 'taller' George.
Must say though, respect for the green tweed.
