Well currently a song that expresses sheer JOY to me is this one:

Music 30 #4 — A song that makes you sad

Oh I could literally spend 30 days posting songs that are on the melancholic side, since I always tend to go for those songs...which makes picking one rather hard.

If there are songs that almost make me cry sad, it's this song, specifically the Gene version but this does it as well, apart from the terrible flute bit:

Hard one - yes I do relate people to songs quite a lot, but someone like Kirk there are so many memories and so many songs that it would be impossible to choose just one - from MC Tunes to 808 State to Howard Jones to Cardigans to Dodgy to Cassetteboy (yes it was he who introduced me to Cassetteboy!).

But if I was to choose one for Kirk it would be Steely Dan:
