Xmas 2008, originally uploaded by timbearcub.

These were the photos I took on Xmas and Boxing Day - walking from Surbiton - Hampton Court and Bushy Park along the river on Xmas Day, and Boxing Day walking along the river to Teddington.

A lovely winter light, and some great sunsets.

On one level I wish I'd had my better camera with me (now on a decent screen I can see a few things my Nikon wouldn't have done or would have shown) on another it was so friggin' cold that to have something I could slip out of a pocket, take a shot, then scuttle back into my pocket and keep my hands warm, well that is truly great. And I find my larger camera intrusive, that I tend to only take it places where I can be alone with it rather than saying 'mug me'. Or growing new muscles lugging the damn heavy thing around...

But for others it gets worse.

As much as I think Lily Allen might be good as a walk-on in Dr Who, and despite my previous hatred quite like 'The Fear' she's no actor and maybe they are looking for Billie Piper pt 2...but as a assistant? WHAT?

Still it could be Rachel Stevens....omg. That should freak the US contingent who are going 'WHO' - she never made it over there, but she was in S-Club 7, a big if very cheesy girl/boy band here. Agyness Deyn, a model FFS, as is Kelly Brook.

It could be like previous round, a stalking horse for the real candidate, but I really do hope so because a pretty boy Dr and a model assistant leads creedence to my previous phrase 'Dr Hollyoaks' glamourisation of the role, think Dr O.C. or Dr Dawson's Creek. Ugh.

Even Dr Buffy would actually be an improvement on this (no I've never been a big Buffy fan).

It says a lot when a young lippy brattish out of control rich girl of a famous father with no acting experience is the best candidate (!)

Environmental Portrait, originally uploaded by timbearcub.

I'm rather fond of this - even if it reveals too much of the nightmare my room has become (nowhere to store anything atm because of my dad moving end of last year).

You maybe should read this article. (via paddbear)

I'm offski to backup my Livejournal, I suggest you do same...not saying that suddenly they will pull the plug, and not going to run around like my head is on fire...but still. The economy doesn't look good and the nice shiny social networks will also feel the hit - it won't  be just Woolies and Whittards and M&S.

Just in case.

Oh if you're intending to go to LJBook - don't bother, so many people are using it it's falling over.

To those wanting to backup your journals, I suggest:

LJArchive (Windows) - for a local copy. Doesn't include the graphics locally, so you might want to export it as HTML then 'Save as...' Web page Complete or PDF

InsaneJournal - [livejournal.com profile] bitterlawngnome suggested this, it's a great idea and seems to be a clone of LJ. There are more instructions on his blog which are Mac, Linux and Windows friendly - but for those on Windows I suggest using LJ-SEC to 'repost' your LJ posts to InsaneJournal (more instructions on using LJArchive and LJ-SEC here).

I'm not going anywhere but just in case I am doing this...I already have a local backup, and InsaneJournal will be my secondary ;-)

The only slight FAIL thing about it is it's assuming all the <lj user=> is InsaneJournal rather than LJ, but that's minor. Oh and embedded media goes bye bye, as does tags, mood, location and music - I think if you want the latter you need to do the Python CLI method? I never use them, so...but I'll re-add the YouTube vids etc. from my local copy if need be.
