Europride was fun, if a little bit of a let down on general vibe since even the queers stopped everything and watched the footie - I mean football in a gay bar? I mean FFS...thankfully they were knocked out so we can go back to normality as all the casual 'patriotic' fans will now fuck off and leave the real football-haters and lovers all in peace. It is a shame I don't know more about football - well actually it isn't I was designed that way; but for one reason, I'd love to show up all the queens in the Fred Perry and international football shirts and start asking them questions about football - I doubt any of them know the off-side rule, let alone whose shirt they are wearing...
Spent the day mostly in bed, waiting for the night to fall, everything is wonderfuuuuuuuuuuuul..err... that's for another post. I actually didn't feel that well, although had a nice night the night before at the V&A doing their Cuban themed late night drinking Mojitos with John and looking at the Che exhibition while wearing my Castro t-shirt...hey why follow the crowd?
I'd actually forgotten we were going so it was appropriately good look - took some odd pics though, will post those next.
So back to Pride - did the standing around in the sunshine drinking talking to friends thing, ignored all the stands and tents etc. (hey it's traditional) and then later did Duckie's Euroshame with Kirk and Gary which was a real laugh, good music and loads to see, they had stalls and performances from around Europe, and some cute bears there, including a Greek mafia-type bouncer bear who all of us went upto and professed our undying love for. I remember pogoing like an idiot to Girls and Boys, Canonball, and Shame on You...and towards the end Lee did his Babooshka dance on stage (Duckie regulars will know who Lee is, lovely bloke and does a mean Kate Bush)...
Well it was all good apart from the fuckers who were bouncing real footballs over the dancing area and knocked my glasses off, nearly breaking them. So I spent the night being that mean old lady next door and confiscating their balls...HAHAHAHAHAHAHA I'm so evil.
