fingertroubleThe strongest thing that came out of last night is how much I love John; it may sound odd but occasionally I'm reminded by how much I love him. It's a feeling or something that happens - when he arrived last night at the gig I was all touchy feely and glad he was there. It meant a lot.
Other less happier things is someone some of you know has just lost his current freelancing gig, so not a happy puppy there. So the proposed trip to Amsterdam might not happen (and I'd been crap about sorting it out anyway, but...). Also had another freelance gig get arranged then cancelled on Friday, so no work next week as yet.
So treated myself to a natty expensive iPod cover, one off the iSkin ones as Charles II was getting a bit scratched.
And as an example of how engaged I am with modern western music I bought 2 CDs while I was at HMV getting the iPod cover - Atlantic R&B 1967-69 (barkays! yay!) and Senor Coconut's Coconut FM which has Cumbia, Reggaeton, Funk carioca and Aciton. I need to listen to new forms of music, and loving Diplo's mix CDs (which strangely they didn't have) such as Favela Strikes Back! It has the same glee of sample pilchery which I remember I loved about bootlegs back in the day, but with little of the industry wannabe BS that comes with it now.
I need to get excited about music again - actually scrub that, I've always been excited about music, just most of what's available atm tends to turn me off, with a few exceptions...I see no reason to recycle crap just because it's 'new' or in the charts (cf. execrable Sandi Thom, Lily 'rich daddy' Allen, Arctic Monkeys et al). ugh. Not in my name...
