I think the whole "fall of the 11th" thing is a placeholder for the eventual regen, but not planned any time soon. Either that or it's a RTD thing like "The Next Doctor" where we think it means a regen and that's how it will be foreshadowed - but in reality it will be about the fall of the eleventh empire of Korpleck or something.
I am hoping the quasi-reboot means less epic stories with more one-offs. There are still plenty of questions left to answer (who are the Silence really, Kovarian's fate in the non-aborted timeline, who was behind the crack in time, etc) from the last two series, Moffat can sprinkle in an answer or two to those along the way.
One thing that makes me wonder though. The Doctor Who 50th anniversary is coming up, and I would expect more epicness not less. Have to wait and see.
