Stevie Sesame Superstition

OMG does it get any better than this? If could only watch one clip this day, week, hour, ever - it HAS TO BE THIS.

I mean Stevie Wonder doing Superstition on Sesame Street? And as a full band, live, dropping references to Sesame Street as he goes in an amazing 6 minute jam, and in the end he pretty much invents the mashup.

Srsly Stevie, I am not worthy. I was doing the I'm Not Worthy dance at the end of this video. Shockingly good. And what YouTube should be for!

Anyone know what episode/year this was?

IMDb says it's 1973. Damn that was good, Stevie used to be my favorite and from 1972 to 76 with Talking Book, Innervisions, Fulfillingness' First Finale and Songs in the Key of Life he couldn't be stopped. Then when he hit Journey through the Secret Life of Plants he lost me and he hasn't been the same since, seemed he got old and was taking himself too seriously. Love to see him really come back, but I just don't think he has it in him anymore.

This is one of so many reasons why Sesame Street has been such a wonderful show throughout the years. While ostensibly for the very young, the show was always intelligent, witty, and just a touch subversive. Bands often performed, either like Stevie did here, or behind the scenes as one of the countless songs teaching the alphabet or some other educational concept. All manner of guest starts would interact with the crew of puppetry. And it was always engaging, not cloying or mocking.

There were times I would be flipping channels and something would catch my eye on the show and I'd stop for a moment or two. Truly must-see TV foro the young uns.
