Old pictures of men in kilts

I was in Scotland nearly 10 years ago (Sept 2001, yes during that time) and I picked up some old prints/postcards of men in kilts, as you do. So I've scanned and posted these over at Retire To The Parlour but thought y'all might like these too:

Researching for the whole Tumblr thing I've noticed how many suprisingly cheap prints and photos esp, Carte de Visite there are out there...tempted to start collecting ;-)

new / old tweed jacket

I wore this cos it was cold and rainy today mostly, but also to powerdress as my Mac Book Pro died last night***...keyboard then complete failure. It passed all the initial checks by the Apple SubGenius so is now wending it's way to be fixed, and for engineers to hopeully wank over my porn stash** (hey it totally died, I couldn't remove it).

It is a Harris Herringbone Tweed (been there! No not Planet Tweed, Herring. Sorry Harris. It rained a lot. Like today), a vintage sports coat from the US which cost very little on eBay and is in perfect condition. Seriously, I recommend the vintage stuff on there, if it's from well-rated people and you know your sizes. It makes me look like an ex-revolutionary geography teacher (check out my Fidel tshirt and green cap - sadly when I bought the cap in SF the red star ones were sold out, comrade!No patches on the elbows though, thank GOD) which I don't mind, and hopefully NOT a hipster. We really need to reclaim good clothes from those ponces...starting with tweed. If it's good enough for Time Lords (or, err...apparently not now! Apparently Time Lords prefer acrylic hybrids - what do you mean not warm enough? Bollocks!) it's good enough for me.

Started a new tumblr blog, well mostly to hijack their image bandwidth for stuff I don't want to Flickr etc. and to post the stuff I doesn't fit the other themes. It's called Thargoids*, or If This Isn't Nice I Don't Know What Is


* yes after the baddies in Elite, surprised it wasn't taken, it seems Tumblr are massive Vonnegut and Hitchhiker's fans by the names (really wanted IceNine, PoofofLogic or GoodbyeBlueMonday for instance - all taken!) but weirdly not Elite.


*** doubtful since it doesn't include page three 'stunnas' or whatever. Loads of bearded furry daddy bears, yes!

*** srsly I have had nothing but hell from this machine, no better than Vista and tbh more crashy. Not worth the money - the Sony Vaio I paid 600 quid for is still going years later, even if it's creaky now and the internal drive has gone (common complaint with all laptops) it hasn't just died randomly like that. Not impressed, Apple. You're building shit now.
