More hauntology, more ambient, more experimental.
RC199 - Hipnagogic 2 - History Screws You UpNew setup - using Audition beta on the Mac, which is a lot more smoother than the PC version, and now got a Sony PCM M10 solid state microSD card recorder which was too late for this show, but future shows it will be bye-bye Minidisc, lovely format if it wasn't for the sucky DRM/encryption and zero recent Mac or Linux support from Sony. 5 years I've used it but really it was time to go for something that recorded WAVs and didn't lose everything if your computer crashed (ya rly and the encryption meant you couldn't recover. Why, Sony, why?).
Must say I had a lot of fun creating the artwork, I was experimenting with random, which might sound odd, but as a designer I rationalise EVERYTHING and it's nice just to create for the sake of creating....and make the cover as mashed as the show. I also wanted to reflect the 80's and glitchy/noisy nature of the music, computer games to old VHS tapes (hey my old JVC VHS recorder arrived, only 10 quid, hope it works) - and this one had a random process rather than the witch house symbols I searched for 'History' (found a history of the universe poster than reminded me of pacman, had the little munchman symbol for something else) and 'glitch' in google images but also
random phrases from this site - hence Asemia which is 'the term for the medical condition of being unable to understand or express any signs or symbols.' which spookily came up after Aneuch (scots for 'enough'!) and was one of the first words to come up - given the symbol thing, Also monoplanist came later...and there is a monoplanist in there, if you look.
Also: 'Electroweak Epoch': - best possible Chillwave/Electro Band Name EVER.
I do put stuff like this into the covers and artworks, I like encoding things into them, dunno if anyone pays it any attention, really. LOL.
