Andy cross process, originally uploaded by timbearcub.

No I didn't forget my promise so here are 2 more portraits of Andy.

This is medium format, Provia - some old film that I got cross processed as with the earlier Kirk image.

I think I accentuated the colour cast from the cross processing here...there is a fairly extreme yellow/green cast on these pictures though. Not exactly flattering (yellow never is) but makes for an interesting image.

Incidentally cross processing happens a lot for very striking colour images - if you take the cast out, you do get the 'proper' colours but they are hyperreal, super-saturated. The image of the drummers on the cover of that INXS album is one, for example.

The contact prints I have of this shot and the kirk shot - which were corrected by the lab - have still a slightly odd quality in the colour and contrast, like they were taken in a tank of water or on mars. Uncanny valley indeed.

A more normal shot - I also did some colour pictures on 35mm during this session - Kodak 160NC for the photogeeks out there.. I loved that film along with Portra, lovely skin tones.
