 Expected older/more experienced name that had some Dr Who history - not Doctor Hollyoaks. Humph.

I think they went for the glam tween audience, the one that sells magazines, rather than someone that might appeal to everyone, since it's not just a kids show now (it's a family show according to RTD, they know the demographic isn't just kids, hence the references and Torchwood). This is definitely a sign of lack of RTD's hand, which not always good, was a far sight better than this. Oh dear.

First the "Teenage Star Trek" movie, and now this. *sigh*

I can sort of see a point to the teenage star-trek thing, they could've had loads of adventures before the series started, etc.

Whereas going younger on Dr Who where most of the Doctors have been 40-50s, sometimes 30s, well seems a bit silly, especially when the authority thing as a 900 year old alien alone seems more, well, important.
