Oh and...

Having hear months of 'X has a child' this strikes a chord:

Suffer the little children
"Why has Colleague X been given a parking space?"

"Because she has children. She has to do the school run."

"And that would be why she gets her teaching scheduled for post-10am and pre-4pm?"

"Yes, she has to arrange child care."

"And that would be why she's done no research for five years, and why we have to cover for her at the drop of a hat?"

"Er, yes."

LISTEN UP BREEDERS! So you gave the gift of a child to the world. Thanks a fucking bunch. It doesn't make you special, it doesn't make you a better person, it does not give you some unique and lofty perspective on the world, and it certainly should not entitle you to a bloody car parking space. You made a lifestyle choice; deal with it. And if you ever, ever say to me "if you had kids you'd understand" then I'll unleash the paedophiles.

I was in the queue at Wholefoods and a woman with three kids hanging onto her scolded me for not getting a paper bag over a plastic one.
'Good point' I said 'but I don't have a car and I don't breed - so I win'.
I floated back home on a golden cloud of smug self-righteousness.

Touche, and very true! :-D

I hate having to 'stand' the little darlings, so I don't.

Demand the special rights you're entitled to as a homosexual. The ones the fundamentalists say we've got. I'm not sure what they are, but they should at least get you a parking spot.

Spray paint on the pavement: THIS IS A GAY PARKING SPOT.

I think you need a special parking spot so you can more easily get to those mandatory recruitment meetings -- I mean, you have to get people into your lifestyle, right? ;)

This pisses me off to no end. My husband has a co-worker who constantly uses the fact that she has two children as an excuse to get out of doing the work that's required of her. It's as if she's the only parent there. Another co-worker decided two weeks before the new school term was to start that she did not want to return from her maternity leave.

People like this give a bad name to working mothers who would never dream of inconveniencing their co-workers or requesting special privileges because of it.

There is a type of parent who basically uses their kids as an excuse to get their own way under all circumstances.

Strange as it may sound, you encounter that sort of parent much more frequently if you actually have kids.
