Gaza

Hmm, you might not read my Twitter where I've been discussing Gaza vs Israel amongst other things. It's tended to be where I park my more sharp political thoughts, things that cross my mind...and I've always thought that posting the absolutely fucking obvious to the converted here seemed a bit silly, I tend to keep things light here, apart from friends-only posts.

But for someone who (unlike me has a lot of friends who like Dr Who, I haz 1 post?)  was moaning about the previous post -

1) Gaza vs Israel is bad
2) Killing is bad
3) Firing rockets is bad
4) Being an oppressive regime - yup not so great
5) Hamas not having unity with Fatah - very bad
6) Alexei Sayle is cute. And right.
7) So is Bianca Jagger, she's not cute though
8) Did I say killing is bad, mmmkay?
9) Matt Smith is a shit Doctor  Who...oops how did that slip in here?
10) They need to talk rather than attack each other, and that's probably Israel's call
11) Britain fucked it up in the first place
12) It's as bad as Nothern Ireland and about as intractable, complex and fucked up. But they've sorted that out, so there is hope, but people do need to stop blockading and firing first.
13) People are bad
14) The world is bad
15) So they need crappy TV shows to blog about.

All a bit fucking obvious right? And as I don't work for the UN I can't answer 'how' to any of those questions, and would be pointless if I did because, I have no power in this. This is why I tend to keep it elsewhere...short and sweet.

Thank you.

More Gaza

Some interestingly articles on the differences between US, western and Israeli media - not as obvious as you might think.

"Also from Haaretz, Zvi Barel writes: "Six months ago Israel asked and received a cease-fire from Hamas. It unilaterally violated it when it blew up a tunnel, while still asking Egypt to get the Islamic group to hold its fire." Yet the U.S. media refers that only Hamas violated the ceasefire."

The reported accepted truth might not be as 'truthy' as you think...

This does seem to be one of those things most people are silent on, there's the few noisy ones like me but mostly...nothing. Which given the now land invasion of Gaza and the potential for sheer apocalypse coming from this, well it's surprising, Another set of martyrs and suicide bombers? Just what we need!

Oh and read this blog if you want a first hand report what is happening inside Gaza. Obviously journalist embargos are for those outside, she was already there as an international observer. As is Gazamom, who's father and mother lives there and also uses Twitter.
