fingertrouble | Syd Barret dies

Sad when talent and genius are wasted, and especially through drugs, but I'm sad that Syd Barret has died - just quoted the lyrics of my favourite Syd song Golden Hair over at Radio Clash...seemed fitting somehow.

I have a special love of Golden Hair via hearing the Slowdive version, and then using it for this mashup I did: http://www.mutantpop.net/go.php?url=42 (Golden Beard (aka My True Love Has a Golden Beard). Dunno if it counts as a tribute, but I bought Opel because of it, and made me really appreciate his work more than the others of his ilk (don't start me on Nick Drake and the Buckleys & co. grrr).

As I said over at RC, I hope he's at peace now. I heard he was happy not doing music, and happy just watching TV and staying in...music and fame seemed a bitter pill for him though.
